We attended the Know?Show, Canada’s Premier Lifestyle Tradeshow on Thursday August 18th. We were overwhelmed with the number of exhibits and didn’t know where to start, but thankfully we had a map handy and friendly staff to direct us. The tradeshow included surfer/skater brands such as Ripcurl, Roxy, Circa, DC, & Quiksilver, footwear brands such as  Converse, Tsonga, Shoe The Bear, Stussy, Supra Footwear, TOMS, Native Shoes, and more fashion-oriented brands such as Toy Watch, Uranium, Gentle Fawn, & Lifetime. The event was an opportunity for distributors to showcase their Fall/Winter 2011 and Spring/Summer 2012 collections to buyers, the media, and of course, bloggers!  We had a lot of fun exploring the tradeshow and speaking with different brand reps.

Media lounge by the “pool.” Just what we needed!

Boobies Rule! A cheeky organization that raises breast cancer awareness to the younger generation.

We wanna thank Malania from Dela Cruz Public Relations for the media invite and for our lovely swag bags. The turnout was a success, and we can’t wait until next years event!

Obakki F/W 2011 Fashion Show

May 10, 2011 § 2 Comments

As we posted last month, we were invited to attend Obakki’s 2011 Fall/Winter Fashion Show and After Party, held at St. Andrews Wesley Church and Boneta Restaurant respectively. We admit, these pictures may be a little late, but hey, better late than never right? Because we want to provide our readers with authentic pictures that we’ve taken ourselves, you’re going to have to excuse the fact that these images are not SLR – quality!  Sellina was busy recording the show while I, admittedly was snapping away with my beloved Blackberry, because I absentmindedly left my digital camera at home (oops!). Nevertheless, enjoy!

Looks on the runway included, but not limited to: gothic lace, sheer and romantic nude coloured pieces with a lot of draping action, chunky oversized knitted tops, and long tailed trench coats – all topped with heavy duty platform boots, fish tail braids and minimalist make-up. It was a great show and the romantic, yet eerie ambiance of the church was just the icing of the cake. It almost tempted us to walk hand in hand up to the alter to exchange … just kidding.

Bake For the Quake

April 28, 2011 § Leave a comment

Last week we attended Bake For The Quake with a couple friends of ours at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre in Yaletown. Organized by local food bloggers Melody Fury ( and Joy (, this collective bake sale was held to raise funds for Japan and the tsunami relief. The event featured Vancity’s talented bakers including Smudge Bakery, Em’s Gems, iBakery, BAH!, Hearth & Larder,  SweeTease Cupcakes,  Something Sweet For You, and Elaine Evans. They all produced special treats and desserts to help this amazing cause.

This was no ordinary bake sale my friends. Not only did we line up for nearly half an hour to get in (the line-up ended up going all the way outside), but the place was jam packed with people. It was seriously busy. Nearly five minutes into the madness, I had already lost Mel to French Macarons. Squished, trampled, and smacked in the head by someone’s umbrella, I made it out alive with a few goodies and some pictures…

Something Sweet For You Cake Pops! How cute are they?

Mini Vegan Cupcakes

Canucks Cupcakes. And on another note, how EPIC was that win last night against the Hawks? I was nearly in tears…

As far as baked goods go, everything was delicious, creative, and innovative. 650 Vancouverites attended and Bake For the Quake raised $7136. Talk about a colossal success. It was considered the biggest bake sale in Vancouver history.  Just goes to show how supportive our city is!
